Frequently asked questions
How do I install Strip It?
Download Strip It from the Mac App Store
Open Safari → Settings (⌘,) → Extensions
Check the box next to Strip It for Safari
The green Strip It icon appears in your Safari toolbar
Click it on any web page to begin
That's it. No accounts, no setup wizards, no configuration.
It doesn't work on a website I use a lot. What do I do?
Email me. Send the URL of the article (or a similar one on that website) and a quick note about what went wrong — did Strip It produce weird output, miss content, or silently fail?
Strip It works well on most article-style pages, but every site codes their pages differently and some are stubborn. The more sites users report, the more I can fix.
Why does Strip It send LinkedIn data to a server?
LinkedIn profile pages are too complex to clean up reliably on your Mac. For LinkedIn pages only, Strip It sends the visible page text to a server we operate, which uses AI to extract the profile data into a clean, printable résumé-style document.
What's sent: only the visible text of the LinkedIn profile you're actively viewing.
What's NOT sent: your account credentials, cookies, browsing history, or anything outside that page.
What we do with it: we don't store it or share it. The content is processed and discarded.
For every other website (news, blogs, recipes, Wikipedia, etc.), Strip It runs entirely on your Mac. No data leaves your computer.

Will there be iPad and iPhone versions?
Yes — iPad is next on the roadmap, with iPhone after that. I'm focusing on getting the Mac version right first, gathering feedback, then expanding to other Apple devices.
Is Strip It really free?
Yes. Strip It is free, with no in-app purchases at launch.
Down the road I may add an optional Pro tier with extra features for new users. If that happens, anyone who's already downloaded Strip It keeps everything they have today, free — you won't lose features or be asked to pay for what's already yours. The core stripping and printing will always be free for everyone.
How do I uninstall Strip It?
Open Safari → Settings (⌘,) → Extensions
Click Strip It for Safari in the list
Click Uninstall
That's all. Strip It doesn't store anything on a server, and the only local data (your font size and family preferences) goes with it.
